Even tiny amounts of excess water can cause huge amounts of property damage. We arrive quickly to prevent additional damage and remediate your property from the existing damage. Getting rid of the water and drying/dehumidifying your property prevents additional damage. Mold and other microbial growth do not show up until after 24 to 48 hours of constant contact with the excess moisture, so we may be able to prevent the development of such growth. If not, we locate it, kill the colonies, and remove them before starting the remediation, cleaning, and other restoration services.

Even the cleanest water is incredibly damaging.

The more contaminated the water, the more dangerous it is. All levels of contamination, however, pose the same risk of destruction to your property. For homeowners, the primary change is the importance of having IICRC-registered professionals handle the cleaning, disposal, and treatment of materials in your home.

The IICRC categorizes water into three levels:

Category 1 – Clean water

Water comes from a sanitary source such as a water main. You don’t need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) – including gloves, shoe covers, and face masks – when you’re exposed to this water.

Category 2 – Gray Water

Gray water can be clear, gray, brown, black, or any other color. Exposure may cause discomfort or other problems. Gray water may contain:

  • Mold
  • Bacteria
  • Viruses
  • Urine
  • Discharge from dishwashers, washing machines, or HVAC systems
  • Food waste

Category 3 – Black Water

Black water can, like gray water, be any color. The IICRC describes black/category 3 water as being “grossly contaminated.” In addition to the materials that may be in gray water, black water may contain:

  • Sewage
  • Waste-line backflows
  • Seawater
  • Water from rivers, streams, lakes, etc.
  • Wind-driven rain
  • Medical waste
  • Oil or gasoline
  • Industrial waste …

Our Mission Valley East techs have the training, skills, and equipment to handle any of these categories safely and thoroughly. Call us at 619-303-3599 to make your home safe, clean, and comfortable.
