Inspection Uncovers Urban Encampment
My boss told me to pressure wash a couple of empty shipping containers to get them ready for transport for a customer who was building a house in east San Diego County made from shipping containers “off the grid.” What a great idea! I watch shows on TV where people are living in remote areas and are building houses out of all sorts of materials, so my mind was pondering the many ways a home could be built with these containers when I opened the doors to one and was surprised by what I discovered.
Evidently, at some point in time, some people were living in the container! It was packed full of refuse, empty cans and bottles, garbage and it smelled awful. There was no way we would be able to sell the container in this condition. I told my boss about the situation and he called SERVPRO® of Mission Valley East.
As soon as they arrived, the SERVPRO technicians bagged up and removed the garbage and refuse, and then cleaned, sanitized, and deodorized the container. When they were through, you would never know that the container had been packed full of garbage just two hours earlier!
