Power Line Down?
San Diego has seen its share of fires this year, and downed power lines are listed as the fifth leading cause of California electrical fires at 8 percent. SERVPRO® of Mission Valley East responds to fire damage calls 24 hours a day and sees the damage an electrical fire can do to a structure. An electrical ark can cause a spark that can become a fire in no time at all. We are proud of our team of highly trained technicians and their dedication and experience count when mitigating fire damage. Here are some tips from the National Fire Protection Association on how to prevent powerline fires:
- Have a professional tree cutting service trim branches that might fall on electrical wiring.
- Use a wooden or fiberglass ladder outside.
- Keep the ladder at least 10 feet away from power lines.
- Never touch anyone or anything in contact with a downed wire.
- Powerlines may be live; stay a safe distance away.
- Report downed wires to authorities right away.
