Worn Down Power Cord Causes Electric Fan Fire in Allied Gardens Home?

It was a hot summer day in Allied Gardens and my air conditioner was broken, so seeking relief from the heat, I dragged out an old electric fan from the garage and turned it on. I had no idea the fan's power cord had been worn down, developing small cracks near the base. I put the fan next to a window and set it to the highest speed and went back to my home office to do some work.
As the fan blades whirred, the compromised power cord started to heat up, generating sparks due to the electrical resistance from the cracks. Within the cord, a tiny electrical fire ignited, barely noticeable amid the fan's noise. Slowly, the fire spread to the fan's plastic casing, fueled by heat and flammable materials. Thick smoke filled the room, and the smoke detector in the hallway finally triggered the alarm.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department arrived and extinguished the fire, but the living room suffered considerable damage. My insurance adjuster told me to call the local Mission Valley East team and I’m glad I did. They managed the entire restoration from the initial cleanup to the final rebuilding phases of the restoration. Now, you would never know I had a fire in my home!
