Faulty Night Light Overheats and Starts Fire in Bedroom of Allied Gardens Home?

A friend of mine woke up in the middle of the night to a fire in his home in Allied Gardens. After the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department extinguished the fire and their inspection was conducted, they determined that the cause of the fire was a faulty night light that started an electrical fire in a bedroom. The night light had defective wiring and low-quality electrical components that overheated and started the fire. While night light fires do not happen very often, it is essential to take precautions to prevent potential hazards as follows:
- Only use night lights from reputable manufacturers and check for safety certifications.
- Follow the manufacturer's guidelines and use the appropriate wattage light bulb.
- Avoid leaving a night light on for extended periods, especially when leaving the house or going to sleep.
- Keep the night light away from flammable materials.
- Regularly inspect the night light for signs of damage, and replace it if there are any issues.
- Make sure the night light is securely plugged into a functioning outlet. Consider using LED night lights, as they generate less heat than incandescent bulbs.
